Do not use boiled linseed oil. Sometimes hard to find in hardware stores, Google and the internet are your best friend. This video shows how to condition natural rattan canes. Canes that have been sealed with varnish cannot be conditioned, unless the tip is cut removing the varnish on the tip of the cane, then this process would also work for varnished sealed canes. Linseed oil is messy and this process should be done outdoors on a polished concrete floor or on the grass.
