Leathers 101.17 Mule Deerskin v Whitetail Deerskin12 viewsIs there a difference between mule deerskin and whitetail deerskin? Obviously a whitetail deer has a white tail and a mule deer found in the western part of the US has ears shaped like a mule, but once the hides are processed and tanned is there any noticeable difference? Mule might be the slightest thickness heavier but it is microscopic in difference. A bottom being flogged on the back or butt will not be able to tell the difference in whitetail or mule deerskin. Both make wonderful floggers, the flogger to the bottom feeling it is simply deerskin.Feb 12, 2023

Leathers 101.15 Public Collars or Day Collars4 viewsThere are no hard and fast rules with a public collar, sometimes called a day collar. It could be that Madame Dragonfly wants all of her submissives to wear a dragonfly necklace when out in public to symbolize their ownership by her. It could be a subtle symbol of ownership, like an antique padlock jewelry necklace on a chain; it could be made of leather but very fashionable and stylish; it could be a symbol in itself that represents a relationship like a ying/yang necklace. The main objective is that the day collar can be worn to work, or in the day and not call undue attention to itself or be objectionable by broader societal norms. Many people have careers and work settings that would not allow them to wear a more traditional black ownership collar. Some people are lucky enough to be self-employed, working remotely, retired, on disability or simply do not care what others think. But for a large number of leather lifestylers maintaining a day job and career is a survival necessity that lends itself to the discrete usefulness of a public or day collar. The wearing of a collar of some type 24/7 provides a constant connection and reminder of a relationship between a Dominant and submissive or slave.Nov 01, 2022

Leathers 101.11a Sensual Floggers3 viewsAn addition to the 3 floggers previously recommended (light, medium, heavy weight) is a sensual flogger to provide sensations and contrast between the leather floggers and this entry into your toybag. A rabbit fur flogger is my first choice for this category. Watch and see what a Flemish Giant rabbit fur flogger looks like. Beyond rabbit, a boa flogger, or string flogger, or one made from a curly hair braid from a beauty supply house will serve well to provide these types of sensations.Sep 28, 2022

Leathers 101.14 Progression of Collars_ Blue, Red, Black4 viewsBeginning with a submissive or slave petitioning for a Collar of Consideration (blue), a trial period begins a leather relationship. A Training Collar (red) marks a year period of focused intense training in the way a particular Sir or Ma'am wants to be served. An Ownership Collar (black) signifies a long term relationship with a cherished submissive. Regardless of the particular tradition you follow, collars play an important part and are a symbol of a bond between a Master/Mistress and submissive/slave.Sep 26, 2022

Leathers 101.12 Intro to Collars4 viewsA collar is a symbol of ownership in the leather lifestyle. In more recent times collars are worn as a fashion statement and are choker like. Fashion trends in the Goth and Steampunk style have made collars common place. In the leather lifestyle often they are worn in the dungeon in play settings because a collar at its simplest level is a type of restraint and can be used in bondage and restraint settings to restrain the neck. A collar can also be used for leash play. Protocols surrounding collars abound. There are different designs for collars and fasteners. My favorite is the locking roller buckle although a locking post is nice too. Future videos in this series will cover different aspects of collars.Sep 26, 2022

Leathers 101.13 Types of Closures Common on Collars3 viewsCollars come with a variety of closures and depending upon the circumstances all have applications. Oversized snaps are the easiest and cheapest. Roller buckles and posts are common as well. But a locking roller buckle or locking post often signifies ownership or at least control of a play setting, scene or evening out by a Top. A Master or Mistress sometimes requires a locking collar in certain daily lifestyle settings and is the owner of the key. Future videos will discuss protocols surrounding collars and their lifestyle uses.Sep 26, 2022

Leathers 101.09 Leather Floggers6 viewsIt took 23 years to make this video as that is how long I've been collecting floggers. Most of the floggers featured in this video were made by Happy Tails when Stan Sherman and Lezlie Ceran were the owners/artisans. Stan cut the tails, and balanced the handles, Lezlie plaited the handles and probably has plaited a gazillion Turk's Heads and Pineapple knots. One of the characteristics of their superb floggers is that all of the handles and patterns are plaited using kangaroo lacing regardless of the leather the tails are made out of. At the time I began exploring floggers, IMHO, only Janette Heartwood was making a comparable flogger. So from light doeskin to heavy bullhide this collection runs the gammit of leather and exotics.Sep 19, 2022

Leathers 101.10 Leather Floggers Balance5 viewsAny well made flogger regardless of the tail materials should be balanced. The heel of the flogger is counterbalanced against the tails and the balance point usually falls directly behind the transition knot (pineapple knot). Even mops and supermops can be balanced and should be unless your goal is to wear your arm out and make your dungeon experience work and it should always be fun and enjoyable for both the Top and bottom.Sep 18, 2022

Leathers 101.08 Muir Cover9 viewsOften called the Muir Cap in the gay leather community, most often referred to as the Muir Cover in the pansexual leather community is the icon that identifies a recognized Master within the community. In some leather circles S types wear this style of cover but unembellished. More often S types are presented and wear a leather ballcap style cover. In my opinion this cover should be one of the pieces of leather never purchased but always presented by a leather family, house, pack, tribe, club or other leather organization. It symbolizes not only knowledge within the lifestyle and community involvement, but represents the leather principles of honor, integrity, trust, respect, and loyalty. Traditions vary regarding the Muir cover. It should be passed from person to person by holding the sides of the hat band, taking care to never touch the brim. Brim should remain free from fingerprints and the cover should be donned in such a way as to not touch the brim when putting on or taking off. There are several companies making this style of leather cover, but the Muir Cap & Regalia, LTD., 270 Esna Park Dr Unit 12, Markham, ON L3R 1H3, Canada (phone: +1 289-459-0495) is the authentic cover to my knowledge.Sep 05, 2022
