Caning 101.01 Introduction to Caning and Bastinado167 viewsWith Whips in the Dungeon series of whip instructional videos completed, the next set of videos in the evolving Dungeon Play series is Caning. This series of short videos will chunk one technique or topic at a time until it covers what I normally cover in an hour and a half workshop. Practice of these techniques is encouraged at home with a pillow, stuffed animal or willing caning bottom.

Caning 101.11 Drumming or Percussion143 viewsDrumming is rhythmic caning using one or two canes to the beat of the music playing. I personally like to keep my drumming with even rhythmic strikes focusing on connecting the beat and energy of the music to the caning bottom. This helps with head space and preparation for heavier caning to follow. Percussion can involve variations in intensity and heaviness of strikes. I personally do not use it that way. It can also be a type of rhythmic massage. Any cane or canes can be used, but I like "shorties" for this technique.

Caning 101.10 Feathering140 viewsFeathering can create a wide variety of sensations depending upon which cane or rod is selected. This video illustrates that wide variation by demonstrating two different feathering techniques with a thuddy cane, a stingy cane, a rod finished with beach sand sealed into the clear epoxy finish, and a literal feather duster cane.

Caning 101.08 Warmup130 viewsWarmup of the skin is essential for preparing it for heavier strikes. Most caning bottoms like marks, but it is possible to play with a cane without marking if there is a good warmup preceding heavier play. Do not judge skin color to evaluate warmup, use your hand before, during and after to feel the temperature of the skin rise. Use the backstop technique demonstrated to get a direct feel for how hard the strikes are during warmup. Increasing circulation in the strike area and warming up the skin are good essential components for beginning an enjoyable caning scene. Never simply commence to wailing on someones arse. The concept is to show bottoms the joy of caning, not to scare them away so they never want to be caned again.

Caning 101.09 Tapping127 viewsTapping is a partial stroke technique that can be used to warmup the skin, or as an interlude or break from more heavy strikes during a scene. Tapping as with any stroke should be done in rhythm with the music that is playing in the space. Tapping can be done on any fleshy part of the body safely avoid joints and boney parts.

Caning 101.12 Bouncing126 viewsBouncing creates wonderful sensations and utilizes the vibrations of a well tuned balanced cane. The key to a good bounce is how the cane is held. Watch to find out how to bounce. Variations easily come from using different canes as each cane will have a different frequency and produce different vibrations.

Caning 101.17 OTK and the J Stroke113 viewsSpanko purists only believe in bare handed Over The Knee (OTK) spanking. But for those who use implements in OTK do not forget short canes. I call these "shorties", perfect for OTK. Most of the techniques already covered can be adapted for OTK. This video also introduces the J Stroke.

Caning 101.15 Strike and Hold107 viewsStrike and Hold can be done with a partial stroke or a full stroke. A well tuned cane will make a tone with this stroke. Different canes make different tones. Visualize delivering all of the energy of the cane in the stroke and holding it until all of the energy (vibration) has dissipated into the strike area. Watch this video to see how it is done and the reaction of Moodstone's lovely bottom.
