WITD 301.01 Wraps73 viewsWraps can be done on almost any appendage. Wraps with short and long whips are demonstrated. Soft wraps are distinguished from loud wraps. Using a soft wrap to judge distance and find the whip line that will allow your loud wrap to find its intended target without hitting a bad spot (like a tailbone, breastbone, etc). Safety discussion. Many folks wrap without considering where exactly the tip of the whip will end up after the wrap. @WoodshedOrlando for providing a wonderful venue for this video.

WITD 301.02 Whip Frequency70 viewsWhip Frequency introduces the concept that the length of the whip determines the frequency that it can be thrown dynamically in a rhythm. Whips shown are 3', 4' 5', & 6' bullwhips all made by Peter Jack. However, different whip makers all have slightly different builds and techniques in making a whip. Two 4' bullwhips by different makers will all have different frequencies and feels when thrown. Whip frequency introduces the idea that a whip is simply one instrument in a dungeon orchestra.

WITD 301.03 Chakras Whip Play64 viewsChakras Whip play involves energy exchange. There are several approaches to energy systems on the somatic level. The chakras insight views crown, eye, throat, heart, solar plexis, sacral, and root chakras. Normal strike zones with a whip involve primarily the heart and root chakras. Establishing energy flow throughout the system is important. Understanding that the throat chakra can close and that it might affect the whip catcher's ability to communicate during a scene is important to understanding how to open the throat chakra for safe play, or finding a communication work around. More on communication later.

WITD 301.04 The Song48 viewsThe Song Each dungeon song creates an opportunity for a mini-vignette. Songs are musically structured with a beginning, middle and ending. Play with a song using a single toy. Think of the first verse as the warmup with that particular dungeon whip, chorus build slightly. Second verse begin to ramp up, chorus build more. Final verse build to final chorus crescendo. Tailor the 1-10 scale for that particular whip and song for where you are in Sequencing Play (WITD 101.41). For example with a flogger, play might be in sequence for warmup pain scale 1-4. Next song cat o' nine pain scale 3-6. etc. Each song is a mini-scene within the larger sequence of the entire play scene of say 45 min- 1 hr.

WITD 301.05 Long Whip Style55 viewsLong Whip Style Long whips are any whip with a thong or plaited length 6' or longer. A 6' bullwhip or snake whip will have a total length of 8+ feet with fall and cracker included. Long whips take a lot of dungeon space, most dungeons can't accommodate them. The cattleman's crack and overhand crack are shown. The U-shaped overhand crack is recommended for beginning dungeon play using a long whip as the rollout, and control of targeting controlled puffs is easier with this crack. A tip on grounding the whip is illustrated.

WITD 301.06 The Arrowhead53 viewsThe Arrowhead is a sport cracking throw that when modified has application in advanced dungeon throwing. See how I modify it for use in dungeon scenes. Multiple cracks is a visualization process, some might watch the video and interpret this crack sequence as a single point volley alternating sides. I visualize it as an Arrowhead without the reverse cracks (which are useless in the dungeon), or a modified arrowhead. However, someone visualizes it with good results is the only thing that is important.

WITD 301.07 Advanced Footwork56 viewsAdvanced footwork builds on the concept that small changes in the throwing end result in larger changes and a broader sensation spectrum on the receiving end of the whip. Building on relating footwork to activities the whip thrower is already familiar with advanced footwork relates foot positions to the 5 ballroom or ballet foot positions. It also relates each of those foot positions to common activities more generally found by active adults.

WITD 301.08 Dungeon Orchestra50 viewsThe dungeon is in play, darkly lite, equipment thoughtfully placed, DMs in the space and the orchestra is set for play. A wax pot ready at the waxing station, suspension rig ready for ropework, St. Andrew's cross standing for restraints, violet wand, paddles, canes, floggers, quirts, bootblacks greasing up oil tanned boots and the singletail playing in rhythm to the music. Multiple sounds, noises and energies combining in symbiosis of play. Do not be the whip cracker that becomes a nuisance, or does a sport cracking drum solo that does not fit with what the orchestra is playing to. Just as a full orchestra needs a kettle drum, the full dungeon orchestra needs a bullwhip. Do not be the whip thrower that gets whips outlawed in your dungeon.

WITD 301.09 Dark Energy61 viewsWhat happens inside a whip catcher or bottom when their body experiences a hard bullwhip strike? What physical phenomenon can explain that level of intense energy exchange when an implement breaks the sound barrier at 767 mph while delivering a precise intense burst of energy entering the body. Dark energy is a physics phenomenon that occurs in the universe. This video discusses the analogy of applying that physics phenomenon to the intense energy exchange on the somatic level that a bullwhip or cane strike can produce. Much of how the body processes this level of energy exchange is still a mystery, obviously it produces an endorphin rush, but in some it stimulates an out of body experience, some drives subspace, and in some produces a sexual arousal that results in orgasm even though the pain/energy exchange is no where near the genital or erotic zones. Chakra zones possibly explain the energy transfer and travel through the body.

WITD 301.10 Cathartic Whipping81 viewsCathartic whipping scenes require extensive negotiation. They are optimally achieved when a true Sadist and true Masochist play together in an agreed to scene. A spotter or referee is recommended as often the masochist looses their voice in catharsis and the Top may even be non-verbal when in deep Top space. Heavy marking is common and blood may be part of the negotiations but is not required to achieve catharsis. After the buildup, processing time is reduced to almost zero and the breath is taken out of the scene. Dark energy exchange is involved and often the scene results in an out of body experience, sometimes almost a religious experience, and may or may not involve a healing aspect (although most of us are not psychologists, realize this is a possible aspect of this type of scene). There of course should be an agreed upon safeword, and an exit plan discussed between Top, bottom and spotter. The spotter should have the agreed upon authority to stop the scene. Read Chapter 17 in my book, Whips in the Dungeon as Master Malik of Tulsa, and slave linda of Atlanta share their thoughts after a cathartic whipping scene. While cathartic whipping is not my, Dex's passion, it is an important part of any advanced bullwhip discussion.

WITD 301.11 The Whip Flurry55 viewsSometimes called a round robin, the whip flurry can be set up with multiple whip catchers and multiple whip throwers, or simply with one whip catcher. It can be done round robin, simultaneously, in rounds, tag team, or choreographed. The physical setting can be in a whip lane or more commonly a 360 degree whip circle. So many possibilities for this very different whip scene that has a unique social aspect.

WITD 301.12 Bullwhip Magick58 viewsBullwhip magick builds on the previous videos on Chakras and Dark Energy. Very few implements can deliver the intense focused energy that is required to create a dark energy phenomenon on the somatic level. A cane and the bullwhip are able to do this. When whipping establishing energy flow between the heart and root chakra provides an opportunity for a pain to pleasure vortex that often in pure masochists results in a guilty pleasure, sexual orgasm. Everyone is unique and not all whip catchers that enjoy a whipping are able to achieve this guilty pleasure, but when it happens from 6' away, it is bullwhip magick.
