WITD 201.39 Long Quirt Construction49 viewsA long quirt sometimes called a dog quirt will be 3' to 4' long. It is build very much like a signal whip or pocket snake whip but ends with a viper tongue or quirt tail. This is often nothing more than a wide fall split down the middle to form a quirt tail. A quirt has 2 tails, held on usually by simply a fall hitch, then thong to heel knot or Turk's head. A light shot bag, single belly and bolster are really all that's needed inside the overlay. I recommend only a 8 or 12 plait overlay as the quirt is intended for more intense play and the finesse and articulation that a higher plait count gives really isn't needed and is a waste of money.Aug 23, 2023
