WITD 601.01 Introduction to Sound Healing14 viewsThis begins a new journey with many multiple goals. The most simplest is breaking in a new whip from Smokey Mountain Whips. The next is exploring different types of gongs, sounds, sound energy and different methods of producing sound using a gong. Different frequencies of sound energy can be used to open up different chakras inducing healing. Gongs have been used for relaxation, meditation, healing, making music and for cleansing emotions. Two long term goals will be to learn to play and orchestrate a gong bath using a variety of mallets and incorporating a whip in this experience, an extended leather lifestyle goal is to incorporate sound energy and a gong into scenes and whip play enhancing the ambience of energy in the dungeon during live play as well as interacting with sound directly with the whip bottom during a scene. While mallets hard, soft and friction will be used also explored is using the fluff of the whip cracker moving close to the speed of sound as a way to strike the gong and generate sound. Sound energy can be generated rhythmically or a-rhythmically. This journey begins with introducing a 4" brass Chinese gong, the Tzong mini-gong. Watch as I play this gong with a whip.Nov 23, 2023

WITD 101.64 Varying Sensations34 viewsA Deep Dive into Cracker Materials
A whip bottom most likely will never know whether the whip thrower is throwing a signal whip, a snake whip or a bullwhip, nor will they know what color the cracker is. While the cracker color in a dimly lit dungeon affects the ability of the whip thrower, a whip catcher could care less. However, a dyneema cracker feels much differently than a mason line cracker, dacron much different than horse hair, silk much different than braided mason line, and kevlar is much different than a ladysally cracker {which is the cadillac of all dungeon play crackers}. Not only does material make a difference in sensation but construction of the cracker makes a difference.Nov 01, 2023

WITD 101.62 Whip Repair Kit31 viewsEvery whip thrower should carry a small case in their toybag with some whip essentials. A small mini fid, or dental pick for untying really tight knots in falls and crackers. Several sizes of small bandaids, small tube of triple antibiotic ointment, spare new crackers, a small knife or scissors. I carry snack sized zip lock bags and a sharpie to label each whip bottom's crackers. I never use the same cracker on two different whip bottoms.Nov 01, 2023

Sensation Play 101.07 Fixed Blades21 viewsSafety in knife play is paramount. Always negotiate carefully, and be aware of any use of blood thinners by your play partner. Aspirin, Pradaxa, Eloquis, warfarin all thin the blood. Even though there has been no intention of blood play or cutting, accidents can happen when using a sharp edge in a dimly lit dungeon. Consider not doing knife play with someone who is on a blood thinner. Fixed blade knives are wonderful for moving energy between the chakras. Especially when combined with impact play. Impact play with floggers and cats transfer energy into the chakras and knife play can move that energy around and get it flowing between the chakras.Oct 24, 2023

Caning 101.34 Conditioning Rattan Canes39 viewsEvery so often, at least 2 times a year (depending upon the climate and how much humidity is in your region) rattan canes should be conditioned with raw pure linseed oil. Do not use boiled linseed oil. Sometimes hard to find in hardware stores, Google and the internet are your best friend. This video shows how to condition natural rattan canes. Canes that have been sealed with varnish cannot be conditioned, unless the tip is cut removing the varnish on the tip of the cane, then this process would also work for varnished sealed canes. Linseed oil is messy and this process should be done outdoors on a polished concrete floor or on the grass.Oct 11, 2023

WITD 501.28 Experiment Part II 3 ft Signal to 3 ft Snake Whip31 viewsWatch to see Dex's experiment and analysis. The conclusion is while this experiment failed, a quality signal whip with a belly can be successfully converted to a snake whip provided a very slimline fall is used. This will be a $$ saver for two handed whip throwers and adequate for dungeon play. However, realize the performance will not be as good as a well made snake utilizing a fall hitch to attach the fall.Oct 11, 2023

WITD 501.27 Experiment Part I 4 ft Signals into 4 ft Snake Whips using an English Eye26 viewsThis experiment uses the English eye a 4' signal whip was finished with to add a fall and converts it to a 4' snake whip. Watch and see how Dex evaluates this modification. It is a possible money saver for whip throwers taking the matched set of whip/two handed whip journey in that it makes a matched set of signal whips also possibly become a matched set of snake whips.Oct 11, 2023
