WITD 101.38 Sport Cracking56 viewsSport Cracking takes a brief look at the skill sets of two whip combination cracking in the air and target cutting. Brief discussion of the Sacred Space concept and why sport cracking in most instances is not appropriate in dungeon spaces. The skill sets and goals for sport cracking are different than play with whips in the dungeon. While some of the skills can be transferred to dungeon play, WITD contends that the 4 techniques taught will move the whip thrower quicker to live contact dungeon play than a sport cracking approach.

WITD 401.50 Crosscut Saw (Albert King)56 viewsAlbert King was a blues guitarist and on YouTube you will find many variations and lengths of this song. Blues guitarists depending upon the venue, the crowd, their feeling of the music would repeat riffs and ad lib with the musicality and playfulness of a song. Some of these YouTube versions are over 8 min long. This is a 2 min version. Whip Catcher: ladysally. Blues bullwhip: Peter Jack.

WITD 201.18 Intentionality in Play56 viewsThe whip scene with any type of singletail whip is edge play. Regardless of the type of negotiations before play, achieving the results negotiated implies the finesse and ability to actualize intentionality in play. Watch this video to further this discussion. If you negotiated no marks, is the whip top accomplished enough and using the proper type of cracker to with a high probability achieve a successful scene with no marks. Negotiating no marks, and leaving the whip catcher all marked up is poor form. On the other hand, if marks were negotiated was the cracker choice smart to increase the probability of marks being left even with a finessed controlled puff scene as negotiated?

WITD 401.14 Perfect (Ed Sheeran)55 viewsPerfect by Ed Sheeran. 3' Joe Strain 12 plait two-tone snake whip (5' total length). Rhythmic interpretation of this song with footwork to include ballroom 2nd position, 5th position, cross over break and hover slide step. Forward figure 8, with forehand and backhand flicks and an occasional cutback on the backhand side. There is a very small segment with the front half of an Arrowhead (missing the reverse cracks because after all the inspiration is in front of us, not behind us).

WITD 101.37 Reverse Cracks55 viewsReverse cracks are almost useless in the dungeon. Play is always forward in front of the whip thrower. In Sport Cracking slow figure 8s and also fast figure 8s use a type of reverse crack. Unless there is a really annoying DM or voyeur behind you, the reverse crack is useless. This video introduces them so you know what they are, but not a focus skill to learn for dungeon play.

WITD 301.06 The Arrowhead55 viewsThe Arrowhead is a sport cracking throw that when modified has application in advanced dungeon throwing. See how I modify it for use in dungeon scenes. Multiple cracks is a visualization process, some might watch the video and interpret this crack sequence as a single point volley alternating sides. I visualize it as an Arrowhead without the reverse cracks (which are useless in the dungeon), or a modified arrowhead. However, someone visualizes it with good results is the only thing that is important.

WITD 201.17 Arts and Crafts55 viewsThis video will get the whip throwers ready for kinky camping events. Suggested materials are No 36 twisted mason line (it is fluffier and holds more paint, No 18 is what is used to make ladysally crackers for play), gel acrylic paints all the colors of the rainbow, tempra paint, drop cloth, parachord whips and canvases, or better yet living canvases to create living art (goggles, safety glasses, blindfolds, or simply closing the eyes recommended). Turn controlled puffs into brush strokes and parachord whips into paint brushes. Great use for parachord whips after the whip thrower has taken the plunge into kangaroo whips.

WITD 401.61 A Chi Mi Dice (Il Volo)55 viewsA Chi Mi Dice by my favorite Italian group, Il Volo, sent out to all of my Italian friends. I'd never thrown to this song, but surprise it turned out to be an excellent bullwhip song. I haven't seen the music score, but it would be danced as a Viennese Waltz so must be either 3/4 timing or 6/8 timing. So the whip is thrown on the 1 of each measure. In dancing VW we would call this catching the 1. An added plus in the video is that I'm successful at untying Moodstone's corset tie. So rhythmically for advanced whip throwing the crack alternates between forehand and backhand as the measures each have 3 beats. Maybe way too technical, so please just watch and enjoy.

Bastinado 201.05 Exploration55 viewsExploration is essential to bastinado. The disclaimer on the reflexology chart reads, "location may vary from individual to individual." Reality is humans are unique and no two feet are alike. Location WILL vary from individual to individual and slightly from right to left feet. Even though twins are almost identical there are differences, even with feet.
