Book Reviews 101.02 Screw the Roses15 viewsScrew the Roses, Send Me The Thorns: The Romance and Sexual Sorcery of Sadomasochism by Miller & Devon (1995) was the first book I purchased when I entered the lifestyle 24 years ago. 24 years later, I still say it is a must read as one of your first books when you become interested in BDSM. At that time the book was highly recommended reading for anyone interested in leather and was only 4 years old. Written from a male Dom, female sub perspective in modern scene vernacular the pronouns are a mild issue. But the content rings true and valuable as it has become a leather library classic, a BDSM 101 that everyone in the scene should have in their library if for nothing else as a reference. The glossary in the back sort of sets the stage for the book in that the body of the book pretty much covers in a humorous annotated way every term in the glossary. For newbie's who do not know any "scene speak" this book will quickly catch them up on most of the common terms used in the lifestyle. I am going to offer the book as a giveaway, FIRST to my Patreons, then if no one requests the book, I will look for channel subscribers (restricted to U.S. subscribers) who have messaged me on Fetlife requesting the book. The first channel subscriber (U.S.) that requests the book I will mail to them postage paid. Do not send me mailing instructions, until I contact you telling you that you have won the book giveaway.

WITD 201.38 Details on Cat Construction15 viewsCat construction and components are compared. Shot load, stranding, finishing knot used. In the weeds on construction compares a Matt Welsby Whiskers cat, with a cat made by Abraided Leather and a Happy Tails Tomcat made by John. 3 mm stranding vs 4 mm vs 5 mm is only one variable in what makes a cat have a heavier punch, or wears the arm of the thrower out. In summary, if you run across a quality cat made with 3 mm stranding and you can afford to buy it. . . a valuable addition to any toybag.

WITD Q & A 101.05 Face Slapping14 viewsNot my thing, or one of my fetishes, but I've had multiple requests to cover it. There are many safety concerns involved in face slapping. Technique is important and an aspect of safety. Accuracy, not mishitting, cupping your hand, no rings or jewelry. Do not hit the ears, eyes, or nose. Using a short stroke improves accuracy. You will never see me doing Face Slapping, but if it is your fetish do it safely.

WITD Q & A 101.04 Safewords14 viewsWhile there is discussion of this in the WITD whip series, it never hurts to have this in more than one spot. Safewords and consentual play are a foundational concept in leather. The universal system is green, yellow and red. Visual safewords can be established and agreed upon for play in noisy dimly lit dungeons.

WITD 301.42 Practicing for Contact Play with a 6ft Bullwhip14 viewsA 6' bullwhip is ~8-9' total length. Most dungeons cannot accommodate a whip this long. Few whip bottoms can handle the intensity of a bullwhip with this much potential power. Few whip masters are skilled enough to feather a 6' then slowly ramp it up. Few opportunities occur when all of the stars align and a venue, masochist whip bottom, skilled whip thrower and time and space allow such an occurrence. Having said all of that practice with a 6' bullwhip is essential if ever one wants to chance this type of star alignment. So here is a 6' Bill Nones natural belly bullwhip, and a 6' Peter Jack target shot loaded bullwhip in action.

WITD 501.07 Pros and Cons of Two Handed Throwing13 viewsAs with anything there are trade offs. There are many pros to two handed throwing. Higher repetition rate produces a better more consistent rhythm. Focusing on one target area two handed. Single hand whip throwing is easier to syncopate and play with stall speed matching the energy of the music. Single handed technique allows alternating target zones between both shoulders and butt so essentially there are 4 targets. This allows working the heart and root chakras. While this is possible with two handed work, I do not know anyone who throws two handed who does anything beyond focusing on a single target area. Targeting genital areas is much easier with static single handed techniques and almost impossible to do two handed. So there is a place for two handed throwing, but also an equally important place for single handed throwing and trade offs for both approaches.
