Handkerchief codes have been around for decades and modern ones seem to use all of the colors in the crayon box so every sexual appetite is represented. However, originally hankie codes covered mostly the primary colors. Bob Damron's Address Book (1980) has 12 hankie codes that were in use in the 70's and 80's in gay bars and clubs.
