WITD 301.10 Cathartic Whipping84 viewsCathartic whipping scenes require extensive negotiation. They are optimally achieved when a true Sadist and true Masochist play together in an agreed to scene. A spotter or referee is recommended as often the masochist looses their voice in catharsis and the Top may even be non-verbal when in deep Top space. Heavy marking is common and blood may be part of the negotiations but is not required to achieve catharsis. After the buildup, processing time is reduced to almost zero and the breath is taken out of the scene. Dark energy exchange is involved and often the scene results in an out of body experience, sometimes almost a religious experience, and may or may not involve a healing aspect (although most of us are not psychologists, realize this is a possible aspect of this type of scene). There of course should be an agreed upon safeword, and an exit plan discussed between Top, bottom and spotter. The spotter should have the agreed upon authority to stop the scene. While cathartic whipping is not my, Dex's passion, it is an important part of any advanced bullwhip discussion.
